Summer 2009

Summer is almost over, and although it's been a wet and rainy one on the East coast, it's been a good one.

Jimmy Kimmel Live has had a great summer, and is ready for Fall. This summer, Jimmy dedicated a week to Judd Apatow’s comedy “Funny People, and Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Jonah Hill and newcomer Aubrey Plaza visited the show. Kimmel was also the first stop on Quentin Tarantino’s press tour for Inglourious Basterds, where he talked about smoking and drinking with Brad Pitt in his French vineyard and his wax figure. And most recently, Jimmy amazed Gordon Ramsay with his own homemade marinara sauce.

"The Bonnie Hunt Show" premieres on September 8th, and is ready for a great 2nd season. And just in time too - everyone agrees that Bonnie is the best! Daytime viewers enthusiastically rank Bonnie Hunt in the “Top 5 Most Likable and Appealing Personalities.” People.com consistently picks The Bonnie Hunt Show as one of Daytime TV’s Top 5 Moments. "The Bonnie Hunt Show" is syndicated in 95% of the country, airing predominantly on NBC-owned stations. Bonnie’s audience is loyal, intelligent, and includes a strong demo of upscale, 25-54 year old, college-educated women that are high consumers of entertainment. Make sure and tune in next week!

CTB just completed booking for the online show Peter Mehlman’s “Narrow World of Sports”. The show’s host is Peter Mehlman, former Writer/Producer of “Seinfeld,” and features interviews from a variety of sports people. While Mehlman’s view of the World of Sports may be narrow, the interviewee selection isn’t. Interviews include Danica Patrick, Tony Hawk, Laird Hamilton and Kobe Bryant, among others. The last batch of interviews just posted, including Orlando Hudson, Derek Fisher, Sugar Ray Leonard, Blake Griffin (below).

Moving from one sports show to another, CTB just recently started booking for “The Joe Buck Show” on HBO. The show’s debut episode was talked about throughout the media world and beyond, and now “Joe Buck Live” returns to HBO on Tuesday night, September 22nd for another special hour of conversation with the biggest names in sports. Not just a sports talk show, “Joe Buck Live” stands out as event television, done live in front of a studio audience of sports fans in midtown Manhattan. In June, the debut episode garnered praise and attention and included a wide range of guests from the worlds of sports and entertainment, including a news-making interview with Brett Favre -- his only extended, one-on-one interview since his retirement. A mixture of one-on-one interviews and discussions with a few guests at once, the program promises a mixture of news-making headliners and thought-provoking topics. It also marks a highly-anticipated transition from the play-by-play announcer’s booth to the talk show host’s chair for the premiere sports broadcaster of his generation, six-time Emmy winner Joe Buck. Stay tuned for more from this exciting show!

We also just started working with Yahoo! on a new show called “Spotlight to Nightlight” on omg! Launched in June 2007, omg! dominates the world of online celebrity news thanks to its unique voice and positive tone. After discovering that users couldn’t seem to get enough about expectant stars and their children, omg! created a blog all about hot celebrity moms called Goddess, because at the end of the day, isn’t that what every mother is? Now, Goddess has its own original online video program called “Spotlight to Nightlight”, which premiered in April 2009. Each week, host Ali Landry sits down with other celebrity moms to chat about how they handled their pregnancies, parenting challenges, and the special moments they spend with their children as well as any projects that they would like to promote. Kellie just went to the taping with Alison Sweeney from "The Biggest Loser" at Nomi Boutique in LA and had a great time. Check back on the website for updates and interviews.

Oprah Magazine continues to surprise and inspire with September 2009's issue. Jennifer Garner shares the Books that Made a Difference, including cookbooks and a particular American historian she swoons for. Isabella Rossellini shares her Aha! Moment about growing older. And Oprah introduces us to the adorable Nashville songwriter Landon Pigg in the CD feature. Be sure to check out From Runway to Reality, featuring eight stars of reality TV shows - from "The Hills" and "The Biggest Loser," including Trista Sutter, Kristin Cavallari, Claudia Jordan, Kara DioGuardi (pictured) and more!

CTB also just started working on the CBS special “I Get That A Lot.” After a successful debut on April Fool’s Day featuring Heidi Klum, Jessica Simpson, LeAnn Rimes, Mario Lopez, Ice-T and Jeff Probst, CBS has ordered three more editions of the special that follows celebrities as they “work.” The debut drew 10 million viewers and won its time period in adults 18-49 (3.4 rating/10 share). Please see the full episode HERE. All captured on hidden camera, the show centers on celebrities playing practical jokes on the unsuspecting public by posing as employees in various everyday occupations such as waiters, valets, cashiers, salespersons, etc. Upon being recognized, celebrities will deny the discovery by using the show’s catchphrase, “I Get That A Lot.” Be sure to tune into the next special, airing in November Sweeps.

CTB is also already gearing up for 2010’s Webby Awards. Hosted by the hilarious Seth Meyers, this year’s Webby Awards saw such winners as Trent Reznor, Lisa Kudrow and Sarah Silverman, with presenters Cameron Diaz, Alan Cumming, and Martha Stewart. Be on the lookout for next year's show, currently scheduled for June 14, 2010 in New York City.

Finally, we dedicate this blog to Joanna's brother, Anthony "Herb" Owen, who recently passed away in Spain. He was a wonderful man, and loved very much by his friends and family, and will be missed greatly. Please see the slideshow below.
